Cruise transfers · the upper Blue Mountains
Fixed-fare transfers from Berambing to both Sydney cruise terminals — 100 km to Circular Quay, 96 km to White Bay — from $279, in a vehicle sized for cruise luggage rather than cabin bags.
Vehicle sized up by default — cruise luggage is not airline luggage.
The short answer
From Berambing the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay is about 100 km, roughly 1 hr 35 min; White Bay at Rozelle is about 96 km, roughly 1 hr 30 min. Circular Quay is $289 for one or two passengers and $339 for eleven; White Bay is ten dollars less at $279, because the run out past the Anzac Bridge is easier than the harbour CBD. Tolls, GST, luggage handling and waiting time are inside the number, and we size up the vehicle by default because cruise luggage is roughly double what air passengers carry — the driver takes the cases to the kerb.
First, check this
They are on opposite sides of the harbour and they are not interchangeable. Getting it wrong on departure morning is the most expensive mistake a cruise passenger can make.
Circular Quay, under the Harbour Bridge, opposite the Opera House. Most large international ships. About 1 hr 35 min from Berambing. Narrow heritage streets and a heavily managed kerb on a turnaround morning.
Rozelle, west of the city past the Anzac Bridge. Ships too tall for the Harbour Bridge, plus most domestic itineraries. About 1 hr 30 min. More room at the kerb and a far easier approach.
Check the terminal on your ticket, not the one you sailed from last time — the same line uses both depending on the ship. More on the OPT or White Bay.
Departure morning
A departure-morning run from Berambing to the harbour follows to Bell and the Darling Causeway to Mount Victoria for the Great Western Highway and then pushes on through to the city for the wharf — about 100 km to the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay, 96 km to White Bay. the slow part of this run is the Blue Mountains strip itself, and the last stretch into the city is where the time goes, so we set off earlier than the raw 100 km would imply. A ship does not hold its lines for a late car.
Ships open boarding in the late morning and want everyone aboard by mid-afternoon. That puts the drive from Berambing squarely inside the weekday morning peak, so we set the departure around the M5 East and the harbour approaches rather than around the boarding window. A flight can be rebooked; a ship sails.
Cruise passengers travel with roughly twice what air passengers do, because no baggage allowance is forcing restraint. Two people on a fortnight's cruise routinely bring three large cases and a carry-on each. We size up the vehicle for cruise transfers by default whatever the headcount, and the driver takes the cases to the kerb rather than watching you wrestle them.
Pricing
Two harbour terminals, ten dollars apart. Fixed at booking.
$289 for one or two passengers and $339 for eleven in one vehicle to the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay. White Bay is ten dollars less — the run out past the Anzac Bridge is easier than the harbour CBD — and the table below is the Circular Quay ladder, so a White Bay booking comes in slightly under it.
Tolls, GST, luggage handling and waiting time are inside that number, and the fare is paid in advance to lock in your vehicle. Tell us the ship, the date and the terminal and we will confirm it in writing.
| Passengers | Vehicle | Berambing → Circular Quay | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1–2 | Sedan | $289 | Couples — the most common booking we take |
| 3–4 | Kia Carnival | $309 | A family of four with cases and a pram |
| 5–6 | People Mover | $319 | Six passengers and full-size luggage |
| 7–8 | Minibus | $329 | Extended families travelling together |
| 9–11 | Minibus | $339 | The full minibus — our largest single booking |
Booking the return at the same time is worth doing. Disembarkation is grouped by luggage tag rather than a published time, so having a driver already assigned means you message from the terminal doors rather than joining a taxi queue with everyone else off the ship.
Local
Berambing is a small rural locality on the Bells Line of Road near Mount Tomah, orchard and small-holding country, and cruise departures here start around no centre, rural properties along the road before the long run down off the range to the harbour. Cruise passengers from this part of the district tend to book well ahead and travel with substantially more luggage than they would on a flight, which is the main thing that shapes the vehicle we send.
Questions
The Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay is about 100 km (1 hr 35 min) and White Bay at Rozelle is about 96 km (1 hr 30 min). Check which one your ship uses — they are on opposite sides of the harbour.
Circular Quay is $289 for one or two passengers and $339 for eleven. White Bay is ten dollars less — $279 for one or two — because the run out past the Anzac Bridge is easier than the harbour CBD. Tolls, GST, luggage handling and waiting time are already inside it.
Earlier than the distance alone suggests. Ships board late morning and want everyone aboard by mid-afternoon, which puts the drive from Berambing down off the range and into the city traffic. We set the time around the harbour approaches, because a ship does not wait.
As much as you are actually travelling with. We size up the vehicle for cruise transfers by default regardless of headcount, because cruise passengers carry roughly double what air passengers do. Tell us what is coming and the vehicle is sized for it.
Check your ticket rather than assuming — the same cruise line uses both depending on the ship. Circular Quay and White Bay are a long way apart and arriving at the wrong one on departure morning is expensive.
Yes, kerb to terminal, and it is not an extra. Cruise cases are heavier than airline cases and there is usually no trolley waiting where you are dropped.
One vehicle, one fare, everyone arriving at the terminal together — which matters more than the money when boarding groups are being called.
Yes — the trip home to Berambing. Worth booking at the same time, because disembarkation queues are worse than boarding ones.
