Disembarkation · the upper Blue Mountains
Disembarking at Circular Quay or White Bay and heading back to Bell? No fixed pickup minute — you message when you are through the terminal doors and the driver is already close — from $329.
No fixed pickup minute — you message when you are out.
The short answer
A cruise pickup to Bell is about 125 km from the Overseas Passenger Terminal (roughly 1 hr 55 min) or 121 km from White Bay (roughly 1 hr 55 min). Because disembarkation runs on luggage-tag groups rather than a published time, we do not book a pickup minute — we track the berthing and you message when you are out. Waiting is not charged. Circular Quay is $339 for one or two passengers and $389 for eleven; White Bay is ten dollars less at $329, fixed at the time of booking.
How disembarkation really works
Cruise disembarkation is nothing like an airport arrival. The ship berths early, then passengers come off in groups according to luggage tag colour, and the order is decided the night before rather than when you booked the transfer. Anyone who has sat in a lounge holding a green tag while purple and orange walk past knows exactly how little the printed schedule means.
So a Bell cruise pickup is not set to a minute. We take the ship, the date and the terminal, track the berthing, and then work with you on the morning: you message when you are through the terminal doors and the driver is already close. If your group comes off early, that suits us. If it comes off two hours late, nothing is charged.
The alternative is joining the taxi queue with two thousand other people who all disembarked inside the same two hours, holding a fortnight's luggage, on a wharf with no station within walking distance. That is the situation a booked car exists for.
| Passengers | Vehicle | Circular Quay → Bell | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1–2 | Sedan | $339 | Couples — the most common booking we take |
| 3–4 | Kia Carnival | $359 | A family of four with cases and a pram |
| 5–6 | People Mover | $369 | Six passengers and full-size luggage |
| 7–8 | Minibus | $379 | Extended families travelling together |
| 9–11 | Minibus | $389 | The full minibus — our largest single booking |
The table is the Circular Quay ladder; a White Bay pickup to Bell is ten dollars less.
Where the car will be
The streets around Circular Quay are genuinely congested on a turnaround morning. We name a specific spot rather than saying "outside" — usually a short walk from the terminal doors, which gets you moving sooner than waiting for a car to reach the kerb.
Far more room and a straightforward pickup. The catch is everything else: no rail within walking distance and unreliable taxi supply, because it is not a rank drivers naturally wait at.
The road home
The trip home to Bell clears the harbour end first — Circular Quay's tight heritage streets, or the easier exit out of White Bay past the Anzac Bridge — before the road opens for the 125 km climb back over the range. Off the turnaround peak it runs quicker than the departure leg, because you are driving out against the morning flow rather than into it, and the the upper Blue Mountains end of the trip is quiet road the whole way.
Cruise luggage grows. Between duty free, the things bought in port and the case that was already full, most people return with more than they took. Tell us what you expect to be carrying rather than what you left with, and we will size the vehicle accordingly — a boot that will not close on a wharf is a poor end to a holiday.
Local
The trip back into Bell finishes around no centre of its own, just the station and the road junction or wherever your door is. After a week or two at sea the last thing worth doing is the 125 km drive yourself, and with cruise luggage aboard the vehicle needs to be sized for the return rather than the departure.
Questions
About 1 hr 55 min from Circular Quay (125 km) or 1 hr 55 min from White Bay (121 km), depending which terminal your ship berths at.
You do not need to pick a time. Disembarkation runs on luggage-tag groups decided the night before, so we track the berthing and you message when you are through the terminal doors. The driver is already close by rather than circling.
Nothing is charged. Tag groups take as long as they take and it is entirely outside your control, so charging for it would be absurd. This is the main practical difference between us and a taxi rank.
Circular Quay is $339 for one or two passengers and $389 for eleven; White Bay is ten dollars less at $329. Paid in advance to lock in your pickup.
At Circular Quay we name a specific spot, usually a short walk from the terminal doors, because the kerb there is heavily managed on a turnaround morning. At White Bay there is far more room and the driver can get close.
Almost everyone does. Tell us what you expect to be carrying rather than what you departed with, and the vehicle is sized for the return. There is no extra charge for the bags.
Up to eleven in one vehicle for one fare. After a long disembarkation that is considerably less painful than three separate cars leaving at intervals.
