The vehicle that turns up
One or two passengers with cases. The default for couples and solo travellers leaving Mount Marsden before dawn.
Three or four passengers with full-size cases. The step up when the sedan boot runs out before the party does.
Five or six passengers, prams, and the sort of luggage a family actually travels with rather than the amount a boot claims to hold.
Seven to eleven seats. Extended families, wedding parties and work crews travelling out of Mount Marsden together in one vehicle.

The drive itself
From Mount Marsden we head valley roads via Glen Alice to the Castlereagh Highway at Capertee, then south to the Great Western Highway. That is about 251 km door to terminal and around 3 hr 45 min when the road is clear.
On timing, this is a long run, and most of it is quiet country and mountain highway — the crossing over Victoria Pass and the range — with the only real traffic at the M4 and the airport precinct in Sydney. We build that into the pickup time rather than discovering it on the day.
Most Mount Marsden pickups start around no centre, rural, though the service is door to door and we collect from any address in the suburb. residents and farmers
The question we are asked most is what time the car should be at the door. We aim to have you at the terminal about two hours before a domestic departure and three hours before an international one, then add the drive and a traffic buffer on top.
From Mount Marsden, a 6:00am departure usually means a pickup around 12:15am. An 8:00am flight is closer to 2:15am, and a midday departure around 6:15am. Give us the flight number and we will set the exact minute rather than the estimate.
Coming the other way, we track your flight number from the moment it leaves its origin. If you land late the pickup moves with it and there is no charge for the wait. Your driver meets you inside the arrivals hall with your name on a sign, takes the cases, and drives straight back to Mount Marsden without detours or additional passengers — which after 3 hr 45 min in the other direction on a long-haul day is most of the point.
The two Sydney cruise terminals sit on opposite sides of the harbour and the difference matters when you are working out a departure time. The Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay is about 249 km from Mount Marsden, roughly 3 hr 40 min. White Bay at Rozelle is about 245 km, roughly 3 hr 40 min. Both are quoted as fixed fares and both include help with the cases at the kerb, which matters more with cruise luggage than airline luggage.
Beyond the airport runs we carry wedding parties, conference groups and work crews out of Mount Marsden and the surrounding the Capertee and northern Lithgow country area. Account billing is available for regular corporate travel, and the eleven-seat minibus means a group of that size travels together rather than splitting across three cars and three fares.
On arrival
Switch your phone on as you taxi in. Your driver messages you with the exact spot before you reach the carousel.
Leave the arrivals hall and walk straight ahead into the P7 car park. Inside, follow the signs to the rideshare and pre-booked pickup area on the left. We allow up to an hour from touchdown at no charge.
Exit arrivals, cross toward the P1 walkway, take the first right at the priority and express pickup sign and follow the covered walkway through. We allow forty minutes from touchdown.
Exit arrivals, cross at the lights, continue along the P1 walkway and take the first left into the priority pickup area. We allow forty minutes from touchdown.
Western Sydney Airport has a single terminal with pre-booked pickup directly opposite arrivals, so the walk is considerably shorter than anything at Kingsford Smith.

The alternatives
Honest comparison of the realistic options for the 251 km to Kingsford Smith.
| Option | Typical cost | What it actually involves | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Us | $459 | Fixed before you book. Door to terminal, one vehicle, flight watched, paid in advance. | |
| Rideshare | $494–$599 | Subject to surge and to whether a driver accepts a 251 km run at 4am from Mount Marsden. No guarantee of vehicle size. | |
| Taxi | $514–$569 | Metered, so the number moves with the traffic. Tolls and the airport levy are added on top. | |
| Drive and park | $1004+ | Long-term parking for a fortnight, plus fuel and tolls both ways, plus the shuttle from the car park. | |

Not directly. There is no train from Mount Marsden straight to the airport: you would first get to a station on the Blue Mountains Line, such as Lithgow or Katoomba, ride to Central, then change to the T8 Airport & South Line. Allowing for the trip to the station it usually takes three hours or more, and a station access fee applies at the airport stations. For a dawn flight the first trains may not get you there in time.
There is no regular airport bus timetable from Mount Marsden. Our shuttle is a private, door-to-door transfer booked around your flight rather than a timetable: we collect you from home in Mount Marsden and drop you at your terminal, and we confirm the pickup time when you book.
For one person travelling light, the train usually has the lowest fare, but it means changing at Central and carrying your bags. For two or more people, or an early flight, a fixed fare often works out better: $459 covers one or two passengers door to door, and $579 covers up to eleven, under $53 each.
